Condition of Financial Aid Offers
All University of Maine System financial aid is subject to applicable standards and criteria, including federal, state and institutional standards and criteria. The information below is not intended to be definitive or comprehensive, but is intended to provide some guidance in each of the listed categories.
Federal Aid
The granting of any federal financial aid (e.g., Pell Grants, SEOG & Direct Loans, Work-Study) is contingent upon applicable standards and criteria at the time, including:
- The authorization and appropriation of funds for each program by the federal government;
- The receipt by University of Maine System (UMS) of anticipated funding levels in each program;
- Final approval of the UMS budget for the academic year; and
- Any changes in federal regulations that affect eligibility status.
Maine State Grant
Financial aid authorized under the Maine State Grant is subject to applicable standards and criteria at the time, in accordance with the Finance Authority of Maine’s available funding and eligibility stipulations including, but not limited to, stipulations related to qualifying enrollment status and an applicant’s Federal expected family contribution (EFC).
Institutional Aid
Financial aid offered as (UMS) institutional aid is subject to applicable standards and criteria at the time, including final approval of student charges and university budgets at projected funding levels, including the state allocation, by the University of Maine System Board of Trustees.
