Your successful transition from a Maine community college to the University of Maine System (UMS) begins with expert advice from both your current and future campuses. Through Transfer ME, you will work with your current academic advisor alongside an advisor from your intended bachelor’s degree program to ensure that you have the resources and answers you need.

  1. Talk to your MCCS advisor about your plans. If you think a bachelor’s degree will be your next step, your advisor will want to know. They will help guide you toward the correct classes and narrow down program choices.
  2. Explore your options for the academic programs and student resources available through the University of Maine System. Each campus offers different programs, classes, and experiences.
  3. After completing thirty credits, the Maine Community College System will confirm your eligibility for Transfer ME. (Even if you are not eligible for Transfer ME, you can still apply through the normal pathway!)
  4. Indicate your interest in each university you want to learn more about.
  5. You will likely be eligible to use Transfer ME at multiple UMS universities. Schedule an appointment with your community college advisor to discuss your options.
  6. When you are ready, confirm your enrollment at the university of your choice. The university will contact you to schedule a time to discuss your remaining classes, the new program, and the transfer process.
  7. While you finish your associate degree, both programs will jointly advise you. We are here to help you and will work together to ensure a smooth transition.
