Guest speakers
Every annual event features a guest speaker who is a nationally renowned expert in the field of teaching and learning. The speaker offers a keynote address that is open to any member of the
University of Maine system followed by a workshop that is exclusive to SAALT participants. These are our past speakers:
- Dr. Robin DeRosa (External Site) is the Director of Open Teaching and Learning Collaborative at Plymouth State University and a proponent of open educational resources and open pedagogy. Here is the link to her keynote address from summer ‘17 (External Site).
- Dr. Mary-Ann Winklemes (External Site) is Founder, Director, and Principal Investigator of the Transparency in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education project (TILT Higher Ed). TILT focuses on improving student success – and even retention- by using research-backed practices that ask the instructor to make small but critical changes in teaching. - Don Fraser is the Chief Program Officer of the Washington, D.C. based non profit Education Design Lab. The non-profit supports innovation in higher education, including the development of micro-credentials and alternative credentials.
