Description:
This micro-credential recognizes and validates the learner’s successful completion of the University of Maine System (UMS) Nursing Education pathway (Levels 1, 2, and 3 badges). At each level, learners complete one or two graduate courses, which are taught by University of Southern Maine (USM) faculty. The twelve graduate course credits earned can count toward a master’s degree or post-master’s graduate certificate.
Learners gain knowledge and skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating different teaching strategies in various settings. In the final practicum course, learners apply their acquired skills and competencies in an academic setting. Upon completion of the pathway, learners are able to:
- Model the role of the nurse educator.
- Apply nurse educator competencies in classroom, experiential learning, and clinical settings.
- Design, implement, and evaluate teaching strategies.
- Establish a professional nurse educator presence and identity.
The Nursing Education Micro-Credential is based on the National League for Nursing Academic Nurse Educator Competencies. Evidence is verified and approved by authorized UMS faculty to ensure quality and rigor.
