Description:
The Global Competency Micro-Credential is designed to help learners gain the knowledge, skills, and experience that are critical to fully participate in global society and compete in the global economy. Through a variety of activities, events, trainings and experiential learning opportunities, learners:
- Increase their understanding and appreciation of other cultures and global issues;
- Analyze and apply their shared experiences, incorporating their learning into their academic work, and/or share their experiences through presentations in the broader community;
- Demonstrate global competency in the following skills:
- Cultural Self-Awareness
- Knowledge of Other Worldview Frameworks
- Empathy with Other Global Perspectives
- Intercultural verbal and nonverbal communication
- Intercultural Curiosity
- Openness to Diversity
Who is eligible to register?
- University of Maine System students
What is the cost to the learner?
- There are no required costs to learners, although they may choose pathways that include course fees or other expenses.
What is the delivery mode?
- This micro-credential is self-paced with multiple individualized pathways to meet the earning criteria. International travel is not required for the global experience at Level 3.
