Food Processing Sanitation

Description:

Learners who earn the University of Maine System (UMS) Food Processing Sanitation micro-credential (Levels 1, 2, and 3) develop practical food sanitation skills to help ensure the production of safe food. Learners complete hands-on sanitation training, demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and apply this knowledge in a food production setting. They generate and implement a Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) and accompanying record documents. At Level 3, learners must successfully complete an approved internship, field experience course, or work-based learning experience and provide documentation of positive feedback from their mentor, supervisor, or University of Maine Food Safety faculty.

How can I earn this micro-credential?

University of Maine Cooperative Extension

• Anyone is eligible to register.
• The cost is $75 for Level 1. The delivery mode is asynchronous online.

University of Maine

• Earn Levels 1 and 2 by enrolling in FSN236: Introduction to Food Safety and Food Processing Sanitation, typically offered during the spring semester. There are no prerequisites for this course.
