Description:

Through one of two facilitation skills trainings developed by the University of Maine (UMaine) Cooperative Extension, learners develop competencies and apply their learning in a professional or community group setting. To earn the University of Maine System (UMS) Facilitation Skills micro-credential, learners are assessed on and deemed to meet six core competencies aligned with the Facilitation Core Competencies of the International Association of Facilitators:

  1. creating collaborative client relationships
  2. planning appropriate group processes
  3. creating and sustaining a participatory environment
  4. guiding groups to appropriate and useful outcomes
  5. building and maintaining professional knowledge
  6. modeling a positive professional attitude

Evidence of competency is verified and approved by authorized UMS faculty or staff or another relevant party to ensure UMS micro-credential quality standards are met.
