Description:
Scanning Electron Microscopy is a technical skill that provides essential data in several scientific and technical fields. By completing this pathway, learners demonstrate the understanding and ability to operate a scanning electron microscope and obtain and interpret high-quality data images. Evidence is assessed by University of Maine System faculty/staff to ensure the micro-credential standards were met. Learners:
- Understand the theory of the operations of a scanning electron microscope.
- Demonstrate competency in operating a scanning electron microscope.
- Demonstrate expertise in the acquisition of data using an electron microscope.
- Demonstrate the effective interpretation of the image data.
Who is eligible to register?
- University of Maine System students
What is the cost to the learner?
- There is an associated cost at Levels 2 and 3 for use of the microscope, which varies depending on the microscope used. See the University of Maine (UMaine) Electron Microscopy Laboratory (EML) website for details and pricing.
What is the delivery mode?
- Level 1: online asynchronous
- Levels 2 and 3: in-person
