Preventative dental care is critical for maintaining a healthy lifestyle for both adults and children of all ages. The School Oral Health Program, nonprofit dental providers, and many more employers are seeking individuals with training and knowledge of the oral health field. This micro-credential equips learners with the knowledge and skills to help underserved populations navigate the complex dental system.

The micro-credential training is available on a rolling basis and takes approximately 15-20 hours to complete. Learners build foundational knowledge of a clinical skillset, including how to do an oral health screening and identification of oral health concerns. They develop and/or strengthen their patient interaction skills, identification of dental decay, gain an understanding of HIPAA compliance, what it means to be a mandated reporter, and what personal protective equipment is needed for oral health screenings. Through supervised, hands-on oral health training at Level 3, learners meet a standard of care for patients as assessed through experiential learning.

Those who are interested in working in school-based services must be at least 18 years old.
