Description:
This micro-credential recognizes and validates the learner’s successful completion of the University of Maine System (UMS) Grant Writing pathway (Levels 1, 2 and 3). Learners completed grant writing training and applied their learning by completing a draft grant proposal for submission. Learners received feedback from the instructor and presented their proposals to peers. The recipients of the micro-credential gained skills in grant management reporting, locating funding sources, determining capacity and goals for a grant, creating a grants strategy, outcome measurement planning, writing grant sections and creating a budget. Learners understand Requests for Proposals (RFPs), the components of a grant proposal and ways to avoid grant-writing pitfalls. Learners reflected on their learning and provided insights into their expanded knowledge, development and enhanced skills. Learners received one-to-one feedback on their completed drafts and demonstrated competency in grant writing and leading a team in proposal design. Evidence was verified and assessed by an authorized UMS instructor to ensure UMS micro-credential quality standards were met using graded exams, assignments, skills-specific workshops and peer review rubric.
