MGI Interns Share Internship Experiences

Three of the Maine Geospatial Institute’s 2024 interns presented at the Maine Geospatial User Group’s annual fall conference on November 22, 2024, at the University of Southern Maine.

University of Maine at Farmington’s Gunnar Martin and David DelVecchio, and University of Maine (Orono) Lilit Mathieu, shared their respective internship experiences at Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife: Beginning with Habitat Program, Portland Water District, and the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry.

Dr. Matt McCourt, University of Maine at Farmington and Maine Geospatial Institute, spoke about how MGI’s  internship program is enhancing geospatial pathways for students throughout the University of Maine System.

The 2024 interns were supported by Maine Jobs Recovery Program and Pathways to Careers funding. Fifteen students from across the UMS gained a coveted internship slot from among 45 applicants.
