Time Limits for reporting back to work depend on the length of your military service.
Service of 1-30 days
You must report to the University by the beginning of the first regularly scheduled work day that would fall eight hours after the end of the calendar day on which you are released from active duty. For example, if you return home at 10:00 p.m. on the day you have been released from active duty, and your normal university work shift was 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., you may be required to report for your 6:00 a.m. shift the day after you return from active duty.
If through no fault of your own, timely reporting back to work would be impossible or unreasonable, you must report back to work as soon as possible.
Service of 31 – 180 days
You must make a request for reemployment by no later than 14 days after you complete your active duty service. If submission of a request for employment within that timeframe is not possible or is unreasonable through no fault of your own, you must submit a request for reemployment as soon as possible. If the 14th day falls on a day when the University is not open for business, the time extends to the next business day.
Service of 181 or more days
A request for reemployment must be submitted no later than 90 days after completion of your military service. If the 90th day falls on a day when the University is not open for business, the time extends to the next business day.
Disability
If you should be hospitalized or are convalescing because you were disabled during your military service, or an existing disability was aggravated during your military service, deadlines for reporting back to work are extended for up to two years.
Failure to Meet Deadlines for Reporting Back to Work
If you fail to meet the deadlines for reporting back to work, you do not automatically forfeit your right to reemployment. However, you may be subjected to the University’s rules governing unexcused absences.
