00:00:02: So, my name is Samantha York and I graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 2010, but before that, I started taking some college courses through the Early College program and it really helped me realize that I wanted to become a journalist and a reporter, which is what I’m doing now. In middle school I was part of our news program, so when I found out that there were Early College courses available I was like, “okay why don’t I dip my feet in see what works?” I found a course that was basically a core course for communications and I tried it out and I loved it. I also ended up taking an accounting course, because I loved math so I’m like, “hmm, maybe I’ll dabble in this.” And I tried it… hated it. So I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to find something that I loved and hated while I was still in high school for free.
00:01:02: It’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to do when you get older, and I know it’s scary and it’s overwhelming and there are so many options, but that’s why programs like this are so amazing. Because at the end of the day what you do you want to love, and I think that’s the best thing about my job is. I don’t feel like I go to work every day, so for me this isn’t a job, it’s a dream come true. And I know that if I can do that, anybody can.
