A proud graduate of Cony High School, Roger Katz earned a BA from Harvard College and a JD from Boston University Law School. He has practiced for decades at the Augusta firm of Lipman, Katz and Boston and served as president of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.
Katz was as Mayor of Augusta for six years and went on to four terms in the Maine State Senate where he served on the Appropriations Committee and chaired the Government Oversight Committee.
A longtime activist in his community, Katz has served in leadership capacities with United Way, Kennebec Valley YMCA, Team Cony, the Augusta Charter Commission and the Augusta Bicentennial Commission. He previously co-hosted “The Maine Event” – a weekly program on Maine Public Television that focused on Maine politics and public policy.
Roger is married to Ericka Katz, has two adult children, Jonathan and Shari, and four grandchildren.
