Filtering Static Files

Summary of Steps | Steps in Detail

Summary of Steps

  1. Decide how you want VM:Webgateway to reformat your file and ask your system administrator for the name of an appropriate filter to use.
  2. Find a content filetype that is defined to use that filter.
  3. Assign the content filetype to the file you want reformatted.

Steps in Detail

  1. Decide how you want VM:Webgateway to reformat your file and ask your system administrator for the name of an appropriate filter to use.

  2. Find a content filetype that is defined to use that filter. You can list all content filetypes defined to use a filter by entering the QUERY FILETYPE command from a VM userid as follows:

vmwebsrv query filetype * filter workerpipe *

Or you can use the QUERY FILETYPE command to list all content filetypes defined to use a particular filter. For example, suppose your system administrator said the filter you should use is named BMGR2HTM. To list all content filetypes defined to use filter BMGR2HTM, enter this command:

vmwebsrv query filetype * filter workerpipe |bmgr2htm *|

  3. Assign the content filetype to the file you want reformatted. If the file is a CMS file, you can use the content filetype as the file's filetype. If the file is a BFS file, you can use the content filetype as the file's extension. Or you can assign the content filetype to either type of file using the FILE record.
