The Heal Point System was developed circa December 1948 by Durwood Heal to rank Maine secondary school basketball teams. It is used currently to rank secondary schools in Maine in several sports. See the Heal Point Selection Menu (Maine Principals' Association) for more information.
Durwood Heal was born February 11, 1906 and lived in the Millinocket, Maine area.
The NCAA D-I Heal Point System ranking has been distributed since the 1994-95 season. The 1999-2000 season was the first for this ranking on the web at http://Maine.edu/Heal/. The RHEAL variation was first distributed in February of 2000. The KRACH method was unpublished but available on the web during the 2003-2004 season. We have added a KRACH page for 2004-2005 through this season.
